Greek tzatziki dip

Tzatziki is probably the most famous Greek dip. It's easy, tasty, cool…

It is considered an integral part of a barbecue, but can also be eaten with bread or french fries.

Today I give you the authentic recipe, for the success of which it is very important to use Greek whole yogurt.

Finally, I will tell you a secret. When squeezing the cucumber, do not throw its juice down the drain. Put it in a glass with ice cubes and enjoy it!

Recipe

  • ½ a kilo of whole Greek yogurt
  • 1 cucumber (about 250 gr.)
  • 3-6 small cloves of garlic
  • 1 tbsp. chopped dill (optional)
  • 1 tbsp. vinegar
  • 6 tbsp. olive oil
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • A little pepper

  1. Wash and peel the cucumber. Remove the seeds and grate the cucumber on the thick side of the grater.
  2. Squeeze it well with your hands or by pressing it with a spoon into a sieve.
  3. Pour the yogurt and the grated cucumber into a bowl.
  4. Grate in the bowl the garlic on the thin side of the grater.
  5. Add the dill, vinegar, olive oil, salt and pepper to the bowl and mix well.
  6. Serve and garnish optionally with an olive in the center of the plate.
